The OCR Product Design course provides students with exciting opportunities to explore their innovation skills, developing new and exciting products. The subject is practical, which enables students to learn through using and developing design and manufacturing skills.
The course is predominantly aimed at students who have previously studied Product Design or Textiles at GCSE, however, we welcome students who have an Art background.
Year one is divided into two sections, consisting of the Product Study, where students design and create an imaginative Product Design portfolio. They also complete an Innovation Challenge, a design and modelling task, which give opportunity to showcase creativity and problem solving techniques.
Year two involves completing an extensive creative design portfolio, followed by a theory examination demonstrating subject knowledge.
